The short answer
Updated August 2026

Dirt Flight is not a drone photography service. To get aerial photos of a Kentucky parcel, enter the county and the APN. The boundary is drawn from county GIS parcel data and the pack renders in about ten minutes: an outlined top down, four cardinal 3D views, an 18 second orbit video and a contour map. Nobody flies out, so there is no travel charge, and 12 counties render today.

Why Kentucky is different

On a hillside farm, the flat ground is the asset.

Kentucky land is sold in ridges and hollows. A hundred acres can hold four usable ones, and everybody knows it, which is why the flat bench, the ridge road and the bottom along the creek are what a buyer is looking for. A photo from the county road shows a bank and a gate.

County GIS parcel data is what the boundary is drawn from, so coverage here is complete rather than partial. A farm in Wolfe County renders in the same ten minutes as a tract in Fayette County, and ridge, bench and bottom separate immediately on the contour map.

Boundaries are approximate, from public parcel data, and are not a survey.

Where Kentucky land actually trades.

These are the ones land buyers ask for most, each with its own page.

Kentucky questions

Asked by people selling Kentucky ground.

Which Kentucky counties can you do?

Send the county and the APN and we go straight to that county's own parcel records. Coverage varies: some states publish one statewide layer, others leave it county by county. If yours is one where the records are not public, you hear it from us before anything is charged.

How much does a drone photographer cost for a rural Kentucky listing?

Dirt Flight is not a drone photography service, so this is not our fee. A Kentucky pilot quotes the shoot plus the drive, and the drive back into a hollow farm is slow even when it is short. Dirt Flight renders the parcel from licensed aerial imagery and public elevation data instead of sending anyone up in the air, so there is no travel charge, no scheduling and no weather day.

Will the contour map show ridge and hollow honestly?

It will, and that is the point. The contour map separates ridge top, bench and hollow so a buyer can see how much of the acreage is usable before driving four hours. Sellers of steep ground tend to like that more than they expect to.

Can you show where the road or right of way comes in?

Yes. The access view marks road frontage and the visible track in, which matters most on landlocked or right-of-way access tracts. It shows what is visible from above and is not a legal determination of access.

How recent is the imagery on a Kentucky parcel?

Somewhere between one and three years for most Kentucky ground, dated on the pack. A bench cut in this year or a new ridge road will not show until the next flight. Contour data behind the elevation views refreshes separately.

What exactly comes back for a Kentucky APN?

An outlined top down, four cardinal 3D views, an 18 second orbit video, a contour map, a context map and a parcel info sheet. Paydirt adds road frontage views, infrared, a social kit and the full resolution files. Kentucky buyers go to the contour map first to find the usable ground. Got a Kentucky parcel under contract?

Send the county and the APN. If your invite is not open yet we will still look at the first one by hand.
