The short answer
Updated October 2026

DirtFlight is not a drone photography service. To get aerial photos of land in Virginia, enter the county and the APN, or draw the boundary on the map or upload a file. The pack renders in about ten minutes: an outlined top down, four cardinal 3D views, an 18 second orbit video, a hosted listing page and a parcel info sheet, with full resolution files of every view. Nobody flies out, so there is no travel charge, and it works anywhere in Virginia. Dirt is $29 a parcel and Paydirt $79, or $199 a month for PayDirt Pro (20 Paydirt packs a month). Paydirt adds a contour map, the road frontage hero, the infrared land health view, the full social kit with platform captions, a posting plan and silent reels, pop-out photos from nine directions, the interactive 3D explorer and the measured diligence layers.

Why Virginia is different

Mountain, piedmont, and tidewater flat.

Virginia runs from the Allegheny front to the Chesapeake, and the buyer's question moves with it. In the mountains it is slope, access and adjoining national forest. In the piedmont it is timber and frontage. Down in tidewater it is drainage. One aerial pack covers all three.

A tract in Bath County renders in the same ten minutes as a lot in Fairfax County, and slope, timber and wet ground read clearly from above.

Boundaries are approximate and are not a survey.

Virginia questions

Asked by people selling Virginia ground.

Which Virginia counties can you do?

Any Virginia county works. Send the county and the APN and DirtFlight renders the pack. If a parcel will not come up from its number, you hear that before anything is charged, and you can draw the boundary on the map or upload a KML, KMZ, GeoJSON or zipped shapefile instead. The pack comes back the same.

Which Virginia land do people build packs for?

Blue Ridge and Valley mountain and farm ground, Piedmont farms and timber, and Tidewater lowlands. Typical uses there: homesites and mountain retreats, farms, timber, and recreational land.

Will slope and access show on a mountain tract?

The contour map shows slope and the access view marks road frontage and the visible track in, which together is what mountain buyers use to judge a tract before driving out. Legal access is a title question we do not answer.

Will adjoining national forest be visible?

The context map shows what surrounds the parcel, which is how buyers here check whether a tract backs up to national forest. Neighboring ownership should be confirmed with the county.

Do I enter the parcel number or the tax map number for a Virginia tract?

In Virginia, counties and independent cities keep their own records, and the number to look for is the parcel or tax map number on the local record. Enter the county and the APN as it appears on the tax record, or a street address, and DirtFlight draws the boundary. If a parcel will not come up from its number, you are told before anything is charged, and you can draw the boundary on the map or upload a boundary file instead.

What reads best from above across Virginia mountains and farms?

Slope and access on mountain tracts, pasture and field patterns in the valleys and Piedmont, wooded ground, and adjoining public or large wooded land. The boundary is drawn on every view, and the imagery is the most recent aerial available for that county, usually one to three years old, with the date on the pack.
