Dirt Flight, instant aerial imagery
Aerial 3D view of a rural Maine land parcel with the boundary outlined

Aerial photos of land in Maine.

Send a Maine APN and the county it sits in. Dirt Flight builds the boundary from that county's own parcel records and renders the full aerial pack in about ten minutes. A woodlot in Aroostook County and a shore lot in Hancock County come back the same way, in the same ten minutes.

The short answer
Updated August 2026

Dirt Flight is not a drone photography service. To get aerial photos of a Maine parcel, enter the county and the APN. The boundary is drawn from township and county parcel data and the pack renders in about ten minutes: an outlined top down, four cardinal 3D views, an 18 second orbit video and a contour map. Nobody flies out, so there is no travel charge, and all 16 counties render.

Why Maine is different

Most of it is trees, so the edges are the value.

Maine land sells on what borders it. Frontage on a pond, a deeded right of way off the town road, an abutting stretch of public land, a stream through the back corner. Under canopy none of that is visible from the ground, and half of these lots have no cleared spot to stand in.

Township and county parcel data is what the boundary is drawn from, so coverage here is complete rather than partial. A woodlot in Piscataquis County renders in the same ten minutes as a lot in Cumberland County, and shore, stream and cut lines read clearly from above.

Boundaries are approximate, from public parcel data, and are not a survey.

One APN. Everything below.

One parcel, one APN. Mixed growth throughout, a brook along the west line, and an old skid road in from the town road.

Maine counties

Where Maine land actually trades.

These are the ones land buyers ask for most, each with its own page.

Do not see your county? Every one of the 16 renders. Send the APN and it comes back the same ten minutes.

Maine questions

Asked by people selling Maine ground.

Which Maine counties can you do?

Send the county and the APN and we go straight to that county's own parcel records. Coverage varies: some states publish one statewide layer, others leave it county by county. If yours is one where the records are not public, you hear it from us before anything is charged.

How much does a drone photographer cost for a rural Maine listing?

Dirt Flight is not a drone photography service, so this is not our fee. A Maine pilot quotes the shoot plus the drive, and a lot three hours up the interstate is not a cheap shoot. Dirt Flight renders the parcel from licensed aerial imagery and public elevation data instead of sending anyone up in the air, so there is no travel charge, no scheduling and no weather day.

Can you show pond, lake or stream frontage?

Yes. The boundary is drawn onto the imagery, so where your line meets the water is visible rather than described. On Maine lots that single view often answers the buyer's only real question.

Does this work for lots in the unorganized territories?

It does. Where a township has no local assessor the state maintained parcel layer supplies the geometry, and the render works the same. Boundaries are approximate and not a survey, which matters more on old woodlot descriptions than anywhere else.

How recent is the imagery on a Maine parcel?

Most Maine counties are flown on a one to three year cycle, and the render date is stamped on the pack. A cut made last winter or a new skid road will not show until the next flight. Elevation data behind the contour map is refreshed on its own schedule.

What exactly comes back for a Maine APN?

The pack is an outlined top down, four cardinal 3D views, an 18 second orbit video, a contour map, a context map and a parcel info sheet. Paydirt also brings road frontage views, infrared, a social kit and the full resolution files. On Maine woodlots the frontage view and the top down carry the listing.

Got a Maine parcel under contract?

Send the county and the APN. If your invite is not open yet we will still look at the first one by hand.
